thumb and finger(s)

Before serving in badminton, some players in junior or senior high school send a signal for his/her partner. It's a little different.

Pattern A
Showing his/her thumb or index finger means "short service."
Showing "peace sign" means "long service."

Pattern B
Showing his/her thumb means "long service."
Showing his/her little finger means "short service."

Pattern B has some variety. Some say opposite explanation to above.
And others add that the other fingers show the partner a direction.

Pattern C
Showing a finger or thumb means "short service."
Showing two fingers(including thumb) means "long service."

Many said that only children or beginner students use these signals and adults don't. I'm glad to know variation of "sign languages" in badminton.
